A World Reborn

I see a world where when you go to cities like Atlanta, Dallas, Savannah, and Houston, you see black economic powerhouses leading our country into the future. Places like Little Chinatowns and Little Italies but full of the soul and the culture that moves the world. Places where tourists come from around the world to get a taste of our historic districts, fantastic music, and beautiful black faces. You would know you hit our blocks because every house, flagpole, and business would have waving red, black, and green flags, letting the world know our Black Wallstreets are back in business.

A Future Worth Dying For

I see a world where the schools in our communities are some of the best in the nation, and our families are strong and connected. Places where our elders watch over the kids in the neighborhood, and the kids respect and care for them in return. I see a world where we are our brother’s and sister’s keepers. Where we work together to build wealth and success for our communities. I see a world where we don’t have to worry about systemic racism and discrimination because when we look around, we are greeted by smiling faces that look just like our own. I see an oasis for black people in a world meant for us to fail, where the issues constantly affecting our communities are a thing of the past. Where the cops are a part of our communities, and we have the economic power and connections to fight racism and discrimination effectively across America. I see a world with a bright future for us as a people collectively. One where we know our real history while being focused on our future.

Questions for an Uncertain Future

But how does this dream become a reality? How do we overcome over 300 years of targeted physical and mental warfare that led to the destruction of our communities, our families, our wealth, and our education? How do we overcome the disadvantages of being black in America?

The Message

Honestly, it’s going to take a lot of work to fix our families and communities to turn this dream into a reality. The odds are not in our favor, not close. But that has never stopped us before. The fact that we are still here is a testament to what we can accomplish even when the deck is stacked against us. Our DNA is living proof that they can steal us, manipulate us, and torture us, but we will survive. Our ancestors went through hell and back and, when given an opportunity, thrived under circumstances that would destroy most.

A Future Worth Living For

We are survivors at our core forever and always, but now we must begin focusing on thriving for our families’ and communities’ sake. We must build for the future without the worry and stress of making ends meet. We need communities where our lower, middle, and upper classes live together, with the upper and middle classes serving as the tides raising all ships. Alone, this dream is impossible, but together, it’s undeniable.
